A DRINK FOR THE DRAINED- Why do you think there are so many references in the Word of God that speak of water, and thirst? When our bodies tell us it’s time to get a drink, it becomes necessary for proper functionality and vitality. When we wait too long we may become weak, and then begin to not only desire but crave even a sip of clear, fresh, cold water. God must have known that He would not just quench our thirst but that He would fulfill that plus be all the bare essentials we would ever need.
I didn’t realize how much I needed more of a drink from the Lord until I was an adult. And no I’m not talking about alcohol, I’m talking about a spiritual drink from the Lord. When physically your body’s worn and in pain, mentally you’re spent, and emotionally your heart aches for love, The Lord provides restoration, connection, and even rest from a soul level. It’s deeper than surface level.
Psalm 107:9– For he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.
SENSITIVITY FROM HIS ABSENCE
Many can identify with an increasing longing to be in the presence of God. Especially as evil increases around the globe. This is because many are sensing when there is an atmosphere that’s out of sync with the Holy Spirit. And when God seems distant or not “in” the things that matter to you, you’re likely to feel way out of your comfort zone.
If His closeness has been too long, it’s a lot like when your tanks on “E” and you know you have to get a dose from Christ or you’re not gonna get to where you’re headed without that light unto our path to see whereabouts you’re going. It’s also a lot like when you’ve been in the bustle of a busy crowd, and there are noises, talking, and distractions. You begin to get so busy that you need to exit the rat race. Your desire is to retreat to whatever that quiet secret place is for you to chill so you can think, listen and hear for those answers you’ve been searching for after a troubling, long, and tiring week.
John 6:63 ESV- It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.
POWER IN WEAKNESS
The flesh does weaken. It weakens from much weariness and common challenges that disrupt our focus in daily life. But when you know where your help comes from, you simply go there in these moments. It’s like a fountain that keeps on quenching our thirst, restoring the lack and fulfilling the void. God can do more in our weakness when we simply let Him and simply allow Him. It is then when His power is ever so perfect because we’re trusting in more of Him and less of ourselves.
2 Corinthians 12:9-11, NIV– But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
When you are drained that usually means you’ve already given of yourself to the point where options are fewer and you’re deprived in some way. Maybe you’re deprived of sleep, good health, or clarity of mind for being able to make a sound decision. This is when you run to hope.
When you hope, you desire, anticipate, and expect God to walk with you and help you through. This enables you to rest more when you take yourself out of the front seat and out of the position to solve every problem. You have to:
REST, ANTICIPATE AND EXPECT God to move on your behalf. And when you already know what He’s been known to do, you will forevermore be DRAWN… because you know He will fill you up again. You may not know how it all seems to come together but you do know you can trust Him and you’re drawn simply because you know He is there and WILL walk with you to where your emptiness becomes His overflowing beautiful presence. And though drained… this will leave you drawn to Him every time.
