Decide- I think we rarely take the time to notice how the course of our day plays out. I mean just think about it. How many decisions did you make in the first 30 minutes you opened your eyes and woke up today? You probably made many decisions before your feet even hit the floor. From one moment, as a matter of fact, from one minute to the next, we are making a decision. We probably have thousands of choices we can choose from that would interrupt our focus and change our path for the better or worse or perhaps even to the point of becoming unchangeable. Wow… Think about the power of a single decision. Let that set in… The biggest thing about these decisions we weigh on is whatever the case is, we need to decide, and we need to commit. Because only when we commit are we, not halfway, but FULLY giving way and action to the direction we chose.
If I don’t decide, I’m deciding to stay where I’m at. This gets me no further than yesterday, and I haven’t determined where I stand for tomorrow.
Accepting A Gift Is A Choice
I want to talk to you about receiving a gift. Have you ever had someone offer you a gift that seems over-generous and so your response might have been, “Oh no, I can’t accept this”. “It’s not necessary. “I appreciate it, but really…. you didn’t have to do this.” Sometimes we say no thanks to that wonderful gift because we believe that it will mean we will owe that person something just as great, or that there is some underlying motive behind their giving that leaves us uneasy. But perhaps deciding to say yes and thank you, would bless your soul.
A Decision of Faith
The greatest gift we have the decision to receive is the one where God extends the gift of His son Jesus as a sacrifice for our sins and the gift of eternal life. His to extend and ours to receive. Jesus says in John 10:10- The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. However, just like the present above that is graciously given out of kindness, it’s our choice, except this choice involves our eternal destiny. What the gift giver went through to be able to present to you His gift, is unimaginable. And yet in this gift we have in Jesus, it is the gift that keeps on and keeps on giving. It is the gift of life…
Deuteronomy 30:19 ESV- I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live,
In this day that we live in there are many decisions we will make in regard to our faith in Jesus;
1.) Do I really believe?
2.) Do I strive to apply God’s Word in my life?
3.) Am I able to separate myself of various things in the world and replace them with the things of the Spirit?
4.) Am I preparing my heart through a relationship with Jesus Christ, before His return?
5.) Am I standing alongside God’s standards, God’s intended design, His initial intent, His plan, His way, and His will?
6.) Is my faith an image I pretend to portray or a fully committed lifestyle?
7.) Am I on the fence or am I all the way in?
In all of these decisions, it’s up to us to decide and commit. What will you choose? what are you listening to? and who do you follow?
It’s God’s desire that when we commit to being His children we then strive to live a life set apart, surrendered to God, believing in, trusting and needing with desire, Jesus in and through our lives. It’s how he recognizes those who are His and those who are a part of the body of Christ.
John 17:16- They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
Matthew 7:16- By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?
A Separation Will Take Place In Which God Will Choose
My friends, it’s not enough to live our lives believing that as long as everyone is satisfied we don’t need accountability. It’s not enough to think that God is pleased that everyone, “Do them” and go with whatever feeds our desires without the interruption of Godly standards. That as long as everyone can get along and everyone is happy, that is the new standard and the rules can bend to accommodate everyone in society. Not so. God knows and sees all who will still fear and honor Him. Who will take a stand for Him and when the time comes, He will separate one from the other. This is why if we want to be a part of the things of God and all that has been prepared, from an eternal perspective, we MUST make a decision, as one day very soon a separation will take place.
Matthew 25:32 ESV– All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats;
Matthew 13:30- (Parable of the Wheat and Tares)
Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”
Our Responsibility
So where does this leave us? Well, we have a responsibility to decide to choose or neglect God’s Son. It is our responsibility while living in the broken world we live in today, to decide that we will stand with Jesus Christ. Because Jesus himself, in the Bible tells us that in the end of days there will be a separation where He will be returning to collect those who are His. If you had to choose……decide and choose Jesus today. And remember;
If you don’t decide, you’re deciding to stay where you’re at. This gets you no further than yesterday, and then, you haven’t determined where you stand for tomorrow.
If you’ve decided to choose Jesus, The angels in heaven are celebrating the gift of eternal life you’ve excepted. If you haven’t yet, then I invite you to pray a prayer to Him in faith and know that it will be the best decision you’ll ever make! It’s time to decide…
Romans 10:9-11- ..that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”
